What preconceived notions do you have of the book as a first time reader? What have you heard about it?
I just recently started reading again, after several years of not reading any books, but I have been reading mostly urban fantasy and paranormal romance.
I had heard about Eat, Pray, Love before and knew it was one of Oprah's Book Club pics. Since Oprah usually chooses "heavy" books to feature, in my opinion, I was reluctant to read it.
Why do you want to read it?
I have always been a fan of reading a book before I watch a movie based on it, so when I heard Julia Roberts was starring in Eat, Pray, Love, I thought it would be a good time to start reading.
I found one copy on the Goodreads Book Swap and sent away for it. A week or two later, I saw a twitter post by The Book Vixen asking if anyone was interested in reading this book in a book club format.
So it looks like it was meant to be!

I did not know that EPL was one of Oprah's Book Club pick! I don't like the stuff she does. Like you said, she picks the heavy stuff.
